would lead us to believe that Mr. Jones was in a relatively low position within the White House ranks, that the Obama administration was unaware of Mr. Jones's extreme views and radical activism, and that his resignation was precipitated by a vicious smear campaign.
- Van Jones's position in the Obama administration as "Green Job Czar" was a "relatively low rank" and "did not require Senate confirmation." Therefore, "his past was not reviewed to the same degree as the more senior 'assistants to the president' and other top advisers inside the West Wing."
- According to a White House spokesperson, "He [Jones] was not as thoroughly vetted as other administration officials. It's fair to say there were unknowns."
- According to Van Jones, "opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me...using lies and distortions to distract and divide."
Wrong, wrong, wrong. The White House not only knew about Jones's radical views and extremist activity, they recruited him to the White House staff because of it. Here is how Valerie Jarrett, Senior White House Advisor and close friend of the Obamas, recently introduced Van Jones:

As for how well Mr. Jones was vetted and other videos of Glenn Beck's supposed "smear campaign," you decide:
